Arvid Wangen – Artist Biography
Arvid Wangen was born in Winnipeg but was raised in Calgary where he attended the Alberta College of Art and Design, studied in the Drawing Faculty and began to define his aesthetic. However it was not until 2001, after moving to Vancouver, that Wangen's aesthetic became more singularly defined. It was during this time that Wangen ventured away from his large gestural movements, which had defined his earlier work, and began instead to explore the complex layering of palette knife mark-making that is now his signature style.
