Born in Cairo, Egypt in 1939 Berdj Tchakedjian graduated from the Franco-Egyptian Lycée in 1957. He later continued his studies in painting with artist Hosni El Banna. His interest in the visual arts steered him to enter the Leonardo Da Vinci School of Fine Arts. The four years under the direction of professors Amadeo Trevisonno and Sayed Abdel Rassoul proved to be most beneficiary in the development of his personal style.

After moving to Canada in 1966, Tchakedjian worked as both commercial and fine artist. Today he dedicates all his time to painting. Some of his past exhibitions include The Youth Exhibition, Cairo (1961, 1962), The Alexandria Biennial (1962), Salon des galeries d'art, Montreal (1995, 1999), Humani'art, Montreal (1998); the CAPSQ (1999) contest (prize of excellence in all categories), The Hamazkayin cross Canada (2001), the Armenian Artist exhibition, Montreal (2002).

His paintings can be found in numerous private collections in Canada, The United States, Switzerland, France and Egypt. He is currently represented by Gallery Gevik in Toronto.
