Robert Genn was born in Victoria, British Columbia in 1936. He completed
his formal training at the University of Victoria, the University of British Columbia and the ArtCentre School in Los Angeles, California.
Robert Genn is internationally recognized as one of Canada's most accomplished artists. He has worked on location in the far corners
of the world, painting subjects that have universal appeal. His paintings
of Canada's West Coast and in
the Rocky Mountains have received particular acclaim.
Harmonic patterns of colour and form illustrate grand themes which are transposed onto small panels and canvases in a manner similar to the members of Canada's Group of Seven, especially the work of Lawren Harris. Genn's larger paintings serve as powerful monuments to Canada and have formed
an important part of the cultural heritage. (International Artist, article:
Incredible Journey, pg.113)
