Born in Montreal, Ghitta Caiserman's family had lived for many years on Esplanade Avenue in the heart of downtown Montreal, the artistic centre where the multicultural currents of art happily intermingle. She graduated from the Parsons School of Design in New York with a post graduate scholarship, having also studied at the American Artists School and the Art Students League of New York with the artist Moses Soyer. Ghitta taught for many years at George Williams College and Concordia University, the Saidye Bronfman Centre Montreal, Queen’s University Summer School, Kingston, Mount Allison University, Sackville, N.B., Ontario College of Art, Toronto, Art Sutton and Vermont Studio.
